Programs & services

Over 70% of individuals in Centre’s residential units successfully complete their programming. These individuals receive one-on-one case management, supportive employment services, chemical dependency & mental health treatment, and additional supportive services to assist in accomplishing their goal of social reintegration. We follow evidence-based practices and deliver comprehensive support to reduce recidivism rates and create safer communities for everyone.

While transitional housing and case management are central to our mission, we provide an extensive and interconnected array of services to support successful reintegration. We provide many services directly through Centre and work with collaborative community partnerships to offer additional resources.

Care Coordination & Peer Support

The Grand Forks, Fargo, and Mandan Centre locations offer Free Through Recovery (FTR) and Community Connect services. These programs provide community-based support for individuals seeking to improve their behavioral health, recovery, and overall well-being. While both programs share the same core structure and services, Free Through Recovery is specifically designed for individuals who are on community supervision (parole or probation), offering targeted support as they navigate their recovery journey while meeting the terms of their supervision.

Substance Use Disorder Unit (SUD)

The Substance Use Disorder Unit offers a safe and structured residence for those who are participating in substance use treatment through their regional North Dakota Behavioral Health Clinic. Our goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where people can build insight, strengthen skills, and work toward long-term recovery. The SUD Unit is designed to empower individuals to understand their strengths, overcome challenges, and move forward with lasting recovery support in place.

Stabilization Center

The Stabilization Center brings together three connected programs that offer 24/7, voluntary support for people experiencing a behavioral health crisis: Crisis Residential, Withdrawal Management, and the Drop-In Center. These services work together to meet individuals where they are—whether they need a safe place to talk, help managing withdrawal, or short-term residential care. By offering a full range of support options, the Center helps people stabilize, recover, and take the next step toward wellness.

Crisis Residential

Crisis Residential services provide short-term, voluntary services for individuals referred by North Dakota’s regional Behavioral Health Clinics who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Staff offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can stabilize and focus on their needs. Daily activities and group sessions are available in a relaxed environment, with an average stay of two to five days.

Withdrawal Management (WM)

Withdrawal Management services are available by referral from North Dakota’s regional Behavioral Health Clinics. This program provides 24-hour supervision, observation, and support for individuals who are intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal. Services are delivered by trained staff in a structured, non-medical setting. The focus is on peer and social support, not medical detox. Individuals who need a higher level of care are transferred based on clinical protocols.

Drop-In Center

The Drop-In Center is open 24/7 and offers immediate access to a safe, welcoming space. Individuals can talk with staff, receive basic support, and connect with a Behavioral Health Clinic Crisis Counselor to plan next steps. No formal admission is required, making it a low-barrier option for anyone seeking help.
